: Fri Nov 18, 2005 2:42 pm : Hang with some messages |
| |
I'm not sure that this problem can be fixed because other similar programs show the same problem.
Some messages will cause a hang when trying to read the headers. I pursued the matter with my ISP a long time ago and found that it's associated with the RETR command used to retreive the message, but that it only occurs when specifying a number of lines to read.
Apparently some messages arrive with something improper in the headers (probably deliberately, since they always have been spam) that prevents the RETR command from completing properly if a line count is specified.
Experiments showed that reducing the count didn't help because the count is supposed to be the number of lines read in the body, and since the header is messed up, the command doesn't know when the body starts. |
